Capture, save, and manage recordings in audio, video, chat, and direct rooms, with transcripts, clips, permissions, and downloads.
room recordings let you capture and save important discussions, meetings, or events for future reference. This functionality is available in rooms and can be accessed through the recordings tab. You can record and access recordings in any audio, video, chat, or direct room. Whether you want to revisit a key conversation, share insights with absent members, or create clips for presentations, recordings provide the tools you need to make the most of your sessions.
Main features of room recordings
Accessing recordings
Recordings are stored in the recordings tab within the room.
Each recording is listed with its corresponding date for easy organization and retrieval.
Viewing recordings
Click a recording to play it directly in the app.
The session’s chat is available alongside the recording for context.
Transcripts and chapters
Enable transcripts by clicking the CC icon on the recording.
Transcripts include chapters for quick navigation to specific moments.
Adding comments
Leave comments or notes under the recording to highlight important moments or provide additional context.
Editing clips
Use the scissors icon to create and edit clips from the recording.
Trim content to focus on key points or extract highlights for sharing.
Recording actions
Rename: Update the title of the recording for better organization.
Delete: Permanently remove a recording that is no longer needed.
Hide: Make the recording invisible to others without deleting it.
Visibility and permissions
Recordings exist in a room.
In space rooms, architects are room hosts. Room hosts can show, hide, and view hidden recordings.
Full members do not see hidden recordings.
The toggle to show hidden recordings is visible to room hosts.
Download settings
Download permission is set at the room level.
If downloads are allowed in a room, a user can download any recording they can see.
Hidden recordings cannot be downloaded by users who do not have permission to view hidden items.
Recording length and limits
A single recording can run for up to 3 hours before it times out. You can start another recording after one ends.
Accessing chat messages from meetings
Chat messages exchanged during a video room session are not included in the video recording itself. However, they are preserved and accessible to anyone who has access to the meeting room.
To view chat messages after a session, enter the same meeting room where the session took place. The chat sidebar will display the full history of messages shared in that room, across all sessions. This allows users to revisit shared links, comments, or discussions at any time, even if they didn’t attend the live meeting.
Chat history is persistent per room. If the same room is reused for multiple
meetings, the chat feed continues accumulating unless cleared.
Sorting recordings
At the top left of the recordings list, you’ll find the sort button. Click it to organize recordings by date:
Sort ↑: Displays recordings from oldest to newest.
Sort ↓: Displays recordings from newest to oldest.
