Learn how to move a block to another page or space, what travels with it, and the rules that decide which destinations you can choose.
Moving a block relocates it and everything inside it. Where a copy leaves the original in place, a move takes the block out of where it was — so the page it came from no longer shows it, and the page it lands on does.
Open the block’s actions menu and choose Move to…, then search for the page or space you want it to land in. Choosing a destination moves the block immediately.
Everything nested inside the block travels with it. Moving a page moves the blocks on that page, the pages inside those, and so on down — you do not need to move the contents separately.
The search only offers destinations the block can actually go to, so you will not pick somewhere the move then refuses. A page or space is left out when:
You also need permission to restructure the block you are moving, not just to edit its content. Being able to type in a page does not on its own let you relocate it.
A block stays inside the organization it belongs to. You cannot move content from one organization into another, even if you are a member of both — the two remain separate.
Your personal space follows the same principle. Whether content can cross between it and an organization depends on whether that organization owns your account, which is the case when your verified email address is on one of its verified domains:
A block attached to a message belongs to whichever organization owns the room that message is in, so the same rules apply when you move it out of a conversation and into a page.
Use Move to… when content belongs somewhere else. Use duplicate or copy and paste when you want it in both places — see Block Sharing, Publishing, and Copying & Pasting for how copies behave.
